North Kansas City, MO (PRWEB) July 10, 2014
Alliance Midstream, LLC (Alliance Midstream) today announced it has completed its previously reported purchase transaction on a propane terminal in Benson, Minnesota (the “Benson Terminal”). Alliance Midstream purchased the Benson Terminal from Kinder Morgan Energy Partners, L.P. The Benson Terminal will be exclusively marketed by its affiliated wholesale marketing company, Alliance Energy Services, LLC. The company is currently building out the terminal to accept propane via rail. The build out is expected to be complete by September of 2014 in time to meet the high propane demand in the Upper Midwestern markets.
The Benson Terminal is a 13-acre site with 17 tanks (90,000 gallons each) with a total storage capacity of approximately 1.4 million gallons. The new rail facility will allow the terminal to unload 16 rail tank cars at the same time, and 32 rail tank cars per/day (approximately 960K gallons per day). The terminal remains capable of loading 130 trucks per day from the existing facility.
“This transaction enables Alliance Energy Services to provide customers with a steady and continuous supply of propane,” said Jason Doyle, President of Alliance Energy Services. “With the severe winter season that we just experienced and the Cochin Pipeline now reversed (no longer shipping propane), keeping the Benson terminal in service is extremely important and we are committed to this project. This terminal has been supplying propane since 1979 and we look forward to continuing that tradition.”
