Jewel-Osco Teams Up with Code 3 Spices to Support First Responders, Military and their Families
Chicago, Illinois (PRWEB) July 10, 2014 -- Code 3 Spices started just outside of the St. Louis area when BBQ enthusiast and grill master Chris Bohnemeier teamed up with his friend Mike Radosevich, a police officer of 12 plus years to create a BBQ competition team. Their award-winning seasonings were so popular that they sought out a manufacturer to replicate their special blends. As a result, Code 3 Spices was born.
From the very beginning, Chris and Mike wanted to give back to help others through the sale of their products. With spice names like Rescue Rub, 5-O Rub, Backdraft Rub, Grunt Rub and Sea Dog Rub, it was easy to decide who they had a passion to help - first responders and the military.
Chris's father served in a private sector of law enforcement and his sister currently is a law enforcement officer in the Midwest. They have seen firsthand what first responders and the military contribute to all of us and decided they needed to give back through their own passion.
Code 3 Spices wanted to support three organizations. They started in their own backyard with Backstoppers, an organization located in the St. Louis Metropolitan Area that provides financial assistance and support to fallen police officers, firefighters, publicly-funded paramedics or EMT's and their families. They quickly expanded nationwide, adding Safe Call Now, a confidential, comprehensive, 24-hour crisis referral service for all public safety employees, all emergency services personnel and their family members. Rounding out the third organization is Operation Homefront. A national nonprofit, Operation Homefront leads more than 2,500 volunteers with a nationwide presence that provides emergency and other financial assistance to the families of service members and wounded warriors. Operation Homefront has provided assistance to thousands of military families since its inception in 2002. Recognized for superior performance by leading independent charity watchdog groups nationally, 93 percent of total donations to Operation Homefront go directly to programs that provide support to our military families.
Jewel-Osco is passionate about helping others too and stresses the importance of being a good corporate citizen to create stronger communities and enhance the quality of life for customers beyond their store's walls. Last November Jewel-Osco teamed up with Operation Homefront and the Chicago Bears to provide Thanksgiving dinner and gift cards to military families. “To be able to partner with such a reputable chain like Jewel-Osco not only allows us to bring our products to their consumers but ultimately allows us to bring awareness and added funds to our first responder and military causes which is the most important factor,” said Code 3's Founder, Mike Radosevich.
When Code 3 Spices approached Jewel-Osco to carry their seasonings, it was a perfect match. Code 3 Spices offered value to Jewel-Osco customers by providing an award-winning product while at the same time providing a donation to a shared, worthy cause.
Teaming up with Jewel-Osco has provided Code 3 Spices the opportunity to expand into 179 stores. Expanding into other major grocery chains means increasing needed donations to support military and first responder families.
