IndieGogo Crowdfunding Campaign for New Variety Show from "Skinny Lips and the Sound Malfunction" Hits Halfway Mark
San Diego, California (PRWEB) July 10, 2014 -- Skinny Lips and The Sound Malfunction (SLSM), a classically trained trombone quartet launching a refreshed version of the Variety Show, has hit their half-way mark in their IndieGogo crowdfunding campaign. To help reach their goal they have posted “Pup n’ Swine” a preview sketch on YouTube. The introductory sketch pays homage to Sergei Prokofiev’s Peter & The Wolf and demonstrates the potential of leveraging this proven entertainment format as a means of introducing both young and old to orchestra. The entertaining story, written by one of the troupe about how the big bad wolf became the big bad wolf, is accompanied by an original score.
SLSM is picking up the gauntlet last held by Carol Burnett & Friends, In Living Color, and SCTV, by creating a show that connects audiences of all ages to instrumental music. The troupe uses a fresh combination of the classics, original compositions, and raucous humor in each of their sketches. Audiences will laugh at and participate in outrageous comedy routines, as well as hear refined classical works and newly commissioned music by the members of SLSM. The inaugural SLSM tour dubbed “The Fun-Employment Tour,” launches on July 28 in San Diego, moves on to Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, Berkeley, and finishes in Martinez, California.
The funds raised on IndieGogo will go towards tour expenses including commissions /arrangements, props and costumes, studio recording session, transportation and lodging.
Like all crowd funding efforts, with IndieGogo you can select from a number of “perks” depending on the level of your support, like an extended play SLSM recording, participation in new sketch ideas, or even a private SLSM show all to yourself. All of these perks can be found on their IndieGogo Page at https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/skinny-lips-and-the-sound-malfunction-s-variety-show?show_todos=true.
