Accela, the leading provider of civic engagement solutions for government, announced today that the State of New Mexico, has upgraded its existing Kiva solution with the Accela Civic Platform for its Construction Industries Division. The Accela Civic Platform will give the Regulation and Licensing Department the ability to offer an online portal for permitting, offering enhanced communication with citizens, increased transparency and streamlined workflow for agency staff. The agreement includes software licensing, professional services, training and support.
The Accela Civic Platform will help the State mange building permit activities from initiation to close and will provide staff with the exact information and workflow needed to perform their daily job function while handling all types of regulatory activities, from one-time processes like residential construction permitting to annual renewable activities like elevator certificates. By leveraging mobile solutions, inspectors will be able to access information and make updates online in real-time, from the convenience of their mobile device, regardless of location across the State.
Today, agencies of all sizes are leveraging the Civic Platform to manage civic functions for Land and Asset Management, Licensing, Legislative Management, Recreation and Resource Management and Public Health and Safety.
“This is part of our effort to streamline the licensing and permitting process in New Mexico to better serve our customers and citizens,” said Mike Unthank, Superintendent of New Mexico Regulation and Licensing Department. “This will also serve as a foundation for future e-government improvements to better integrate and coordinate different licensing, registering, permitting and renewal processes administered by different New Mexico governmental agencies.”
“We were looking for updated technology to help us provide more efficient services while making our staff more productive in the office and in the field,” said David Martinez, Chief Information Officer for Regulation Licensing Department with the State of New Mexico. “The upgrade to the Accela Civic Platform gives us automated workflow and functionality to support mobile apps for our employees to increase efficiencies and gives our citizens access to our services online. Now they can search for information, apply for permits or track statuses whenever it’s convenient for them.”
Specifically, the State of New Mexico will leverage:
Citizen Access: A cost-effective way to move traditional counter and call center services to the web, providing citizens with easy and convenient online access to the State’s permitting, building and planning information and activities.
Mobile Office: Designed specifically for field use and leveraging the latest in mapping technology, Accela Mobile Office helps agency staff create and administer inspections and investigations from the field. Department field workers will be supported by Accela GIS, which integrates Esri ArcGIS maps with the Accela Civic Platform.
Electronic Document Review: Offers a comprehensive enterprise project review and management system for regulatory documents, such as plans, architectural drawings, and licenses, in support of plan applications and renewals. Electronic Document Review enables staff to replace paper document examination with the ability to automate, organize and track reviews online.
Accela GIS: Provides a robust solution utilizing geospatial data to improve decision-making and help streamline processes. Accela GIS provides a geographic view of all land-use, zoning, and infrastructure information associated with parcels, permits, code cases and inspections.
“We’re thrilled to welcome the State of New Mexico to the growing list of long-standing customers upgrading to the Accela Civic Platform,” said Maury Blackman, Accela President and CEO. “This is another great example of how government agencies can leverage a complete platform to foster a more product workforce, engage with citizens and build a better community.”
At Accela, we believe that engagement makes all the difference. We’re ushering in a new era where democracy thrives when government works directly with the people, coming to citizens on their terms through mobile devices, social media and networks, and open data. By streamlining critical agency functions like land and asset management, licensing, legislative management, resource and recreation management and public health and safety, the Accela Civic Platform bridges the gap between agencies and citizens. We help build better communities by powering thousands of services and millions of transactions daily for agencies of all sizes.
