Load Board ComFreight Plans to Release More Freight Quote Tools for Shippers
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) July 10, 2014 -- Direct Shippers are looking for new ways to get freight quotes and find ways to handle their RFPs and RFQs in a more efficient manner. Although traditional methods like calling a freight broker or freight shipping company directly have been the classic way for shippers to get freight quotes, more and more shippers are looking for other ways to get rates from different sources on the web.
One of the ways direct shippers are finding carrier capacity and covering their loads is using freight load boards. Freight load boards have traditionally been a way for freight carriers or trucking companies to find brokered freight from third party logistics companies. Rather than just catering to freight brokers and freight carriers, some load boards are beginning to cater more towards direct shippers.
One of the companies that is using their technology to support shipper's load board needs is ComFreight and the ComFreight Load Board app. ComFreight allows direct shippers or manufacturers to post their freight from their phone, tablet or computer onto their freight marketplace. Once a shipper posts their load onto the ComFreight platform, carriers and other logistics providers who are subscribers to the site can then bid on these loads. Shippers then choose the best rate or carrier for the job. Bids and quotes come to the shippers by email so that they get quotes when they are offline or not actively on the site.
The reverse auction model means that after each freight quote or bid is entered, the following quote or freight bid must be lower than the previous. Unlike some other sites, ComFreight allows carriers to ask questions and share the individual load pages as they find them on the site or app. This link to the load details page makes it possible for other carriers in the shippers network to find the load even if they are not yet a subscriber to the platform. Shippers are using the site to post their loads and lower their logistics prices for truck load and less than load moves. Shippers use ComFreight to get freight quotes from multiple smaller carriers rather than using one single broker or web portal to get quotes from just the larger freight carriers. ComFreight plans to release additional tools to support the RFQ and freight bidding process in new ways in the coming months and to help shippers in their search to get better freight quotes online.
