Infinite Skills “Learning Revit MEP 2015” Teaches Basics of Building Information Modeling (BIM) For Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing Systems
(PRWEB) July 10, 2014 -- Software training firm Infinite Skills Inc. this week introduced its Learning Revit MEP 2015 Tutorial, an introductory Revit course designed to equip new users with essential tools and techniques for designing infrastructural systems within an architectural model.
Since 2013, Revit MEP has been included in the standard Revit package. Revit MEP is fully integrated with the program's capabilities for building information modeling (BIM), design documentation, and 3D visualization, supporting all phases of the building cycle from initial conceptual studies through to the most detailed modeling and scheduling phases.
With Infinite Skills’ Learning Revit MEP Tutorial, new users will learn Revit's basic tools and develop a firm grasp of how to design, schedule, document, and present designs for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.

Course author Tim Dundr began his career as an AutoCAD draftsman, and has spent nearly twenty years working in the fields of architecture and engineering, helping companies implement CAD software and train their employees on its use. He has taught at multiple universities, including Kent State, educating students on CAD software from the fundamentals of modeling to advanced modeling concepts.
Here, Dundr provides a complete introduction to Revit's capabilities for infrastructural design.
The course begins with an explanation of essential Revit functionality. Dundr walks students through working with the interface, using shortcut keys, and navigating views. He explains basic concepts like using systems and families, as well as the basic tools of designing and editing in both two and three dimensions.
Dundr then dives into the specifics of working in the MEP toolset, beginning with steps for creating a project, including using templates and setting up views.
Dundr then goes in depth with designing the different infrastructural systems of typical buildings. He provides detailed instruction on modeling electrical and plumbing systems, as well as fire protection and air conditioning systems, among others.
The course then demonstrates how to use these toolsets in concert with Revit's advanced capabilities for creating project schedules, adding detail, documentation, collaboration, and creating visual presentations.
"Revit is a BIM tool that focuses on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing," Dundr explains. "The program started as Revit Systems in 2006, and has evolved into a full-fledged BIM tool that can handle any 3D project."
"This course is based on introductory learning techniques. We'll start with the basics and build a working knowledge of all of Revit MEP's capabilities."
