Naral Pro-Choice Colorado & Planned Parenthood Of The Rocky Mountains Statement On Udall & Degette Staying In Dc To Introduce Legislation
Denver, CO (PRWEB) July 11, 2014 -- Karen Middleton, Executive Director of NARAL Pro-Choice Colorado and Vicki Cowart, President and CEO of Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains (PPRM), gave the following statement on the fact Senator Mark Udall and Representative Diana DeGette were in Washington, DC today to introduce legislation overriding the Supreme Court’s Hobby Lobby decision and keeping bosses out of women’s birth control decisions:
“While NARAL and PPRM representatives listened to the president today in Denver addressing issues related to the economy and the gridlock in Washington, DC, Senator Udall and Representative DeGette are attempting to break through that gridlock and introduce legislation that promotes women’s health and economic stability.
Once again, Senator Udall and Rep. DeGette are doing their job by standing up for Colorado women and protecting Colorado values. It's a mainstream, longstanding Colorado value that women have the right to make their own personal, private medical decisions, without interference from politicians or bosses.
The Supreme Court's Hobby Lobby decision puts bosses in between women and their doctors. Bosses don’t belong in our personal business, and neither do politicians.
On behalf of NARAL Pro-Choice Colorado, PPRM and the Coloradans we represent, we’re glad Senator Udall and Rep. DeGette are in DC serving the people of Colorado. And we urge every member of the Colorado delegation to co-sponsor this important legislation.”
