U.S.-Born Citizens Would Benefit from Increase of H-1B Visas
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) July 11, 2014 -- According to a recent study released by the Partnership for a new American Economy, the increase of H-1B visas granted to foreign-born high-qualified professional workers would have a very positive effect on the communities and give more opportunities to U.S.-born workers.
Focusing on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) fields, there are more job openings than U.S.-born candidates. “Many of my corporate clients ask me why they cannot easily import talent from abroad. Unfortunately our broken immigration system that includes very low limits on the H-1B visas stops these opportunities” said Atlanta immigration lawyer Karen Weinstock, managing attorney of the immigration law firm Weinstock Immigration Lawyers. “Because of the low number of H-1B visas available each year, companies cannot select the best qualified candidates for the position because of arbitrary conditions”, added the immigration attorney in Georgia.
“Economists and financial experts have proven that there is a correlation between the granted visas for foreign professionals and the improvement in economic performance of the area where they are located”, said immigration attorney in Atlanta Karen Weinstock. “In our Atlanta, GA area we do not have a large concentration of technology companies, but we can still improve the employment in the area by 6.6% if we allow more H-1B visas”, said the immigration attorney in Atlanta.
“In the last years, the H-1B visa cap has been met just as the government opened the application window, and many applications were rejected as there were more applicants than visa numbers”, added the immigration lawyer in Georgia.
“When a company is thinking about hiring international talent it needs to have a solid strategy and the right planning to be able to get H-1B visas approved for their employees”, concluded the immigration attorney in GA.
