Maponics Launches Neighborhood Boundaries 2.0

Improved 2.0 data structure and content offer more clearly defined neighborhood boundaries for enhanced location-based targeting.

Maponics, a leader in geospatial data, today announced major enhancements to its Neighborhood Boundaries product. The product’s 2.0 version introduces a more uniform data structure, improved organization of neighborhood types, and expansion of the neighborhood hierarchies.

“We’ve collected feedback from our customers and have responded with the next generation of Neighborhood Boundaries,” said Product Manager Steve Zuckerman.

The enhanced data structure offers increased ease of use, functionality, and accuracy, and helps to guarantee consistency in worldwide data, without the loss of any boundaries from the previous iteration of the product.

Maponics Neighborhood Boundaries offers data for more than 159,000 neighborhoods in the United States and Canada, more than 20,000 neighborhoods in Europe, and more than 11,000 neighborhoods across South America, Asia Pacific, the Middle East, and Africa. The new release also offers improved language support, with native, Roman, and English data fields. Fields in the dataset have been optimized to increase simplicity.

The 2.0 data structure re-categorizes neighborhoods to reflect their unique features more effectively. It offers four clearly defined layers – Macro, Neighborhood, Sub-Neighborhood, and Residential – making it easier for customers to filter neighborhoods based on type and application. Finally, the framework of the new Neighborhoods release is structured to support future add-ons of other geographies and analytics data.

“The previous data structure allowed targeting based on limited criteria,” said Zuckerman. “With more granular and better-defined data, Neighborhoods 2.0 enables increased flexibility to optimize location-based targeting.”
