Country Life was named Specialist Consumer Magazine of the Year last night at the 2014 PPA Awards
(PRWEB UK) 11 July 2014 -- Country Life were delighted to win the coveted title of Magazine of the year last night at the 2014 PPA Awards at The Grosvenor House Hotel in London’s Mayfair. The PPA Awards are the most prestigious awards event for consumer magazines and business media brands so a fantastic achievement for the whole Country Life team.
The awards, judged by a panel of 72 senior industry executives whittled down more than 500 entries to provide shortlists for the 23 categories up for grabs and we were delighted to be announced ‘Specialist Consumer Magazine of the Year’. Barry McIlheney, CEO of the PPA, said: "The breadth of skills and sheer quality of the talent on display here is a true reflection of the world-class creativity and innovation within the UK's magazine brands in 2014."
What the judges said:
"The judges felt that Country Life was a thoroughly deserved winner in this category and were particularly impressed by its strong newsstand sales in such a challenging and competitive market. They especially admired the tenacity required to secure HRH Price Charles as guest editor, which paid off in spades with the biggest-selling issue in the magazine's 117-year history. They also felt that four consecutive ABC increases in a row shows an editorial team very clear on the content they need to deliver and how to reach a brand new audience." Country Life publishing director Jean Christie said: "To be named 'the best' at the best awards is everything we hoped for. An amazing achievement for the whole Country Life team."
Mark Hedges was also shortlisted for Editor of the Year- Consumer and Cover of the Year for HRH The Prince Charles special issue.
