The National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) has invited David O’Brien, VP of Regulatory Solutions, to their 2014 Summer Meeting to join the panel, “Modern Utility Industry, Modern Solutions.”
Utility regulators from every State in the U.S., along with federal and international officials will gather to hear thought leaders including Mr. O’Brien, address the drivers of a modern, evolving utility industry and lay out possible business models and regulatory pathways for the future. On the panel, Mr. O’Brien will provide his views on a possible portfolio of solutions and adjustments to traditional rate regulation that will advance the industry to a new "regulatory equilibrium”.
“The electric utility industry is being greatly affected by the rapid advancement of technology, consumer preferences and third party competition. Today’s more dynamic environment requires new business models and a complimentary regulatory framework. Performance based ratemaking, such as BRIDGE PBR 2.0, focuses on innovation and performance, critical to the industry in this period of grid transformation.”
