(PRWEB) July 12, 2014 -- Darrin teaches a common jazz chord progression, 1 6 2 5, and incorporates a melody. Darrin starts off by going over the chords that are used in the progression as follows; GM7, (G major seven), first finger 3rd fret of the 6th string, 5th string muted, 4th fret of 4th string with 3rd finger, 4th fret 3rd string with 3rd finger, 3rd fret 2nd string with 2nd finger, first string muted. Next is E7#9, (E seven sharp nine), 7th fret of the 5th string with 2nd finger, 6th fret 4th string with first finger, 7th fret 3rd string with 3rd finger and 8th fret 2nd string with 4th finger. Next is Am7, (A minor seven), 5th fret 6th string with first finger, 5th string muted, 5th fret 4th string with 2nd finger, 5th fret 3rd string with 3rd finger and 5th fret 2nd string with 4th finger. And finally a D9, 5th fret 5th string with 2nd finger, 4th fret 4th string with first finger, 5th fret 3rd string with 3rd finger and 5th fret 2nd string with 4th finger. Next Goodman demonstrates various melodies that can be played between the chord changes based out of the major scale and says that the idea is to play equal amounts of the rhythm and melody and demonstrates it as one measure of each . The 1-6-2-5 chord progression is a chord progression built from the first, sixth, second and fifth notes of the major scale.
