(PRWEB) July 13, 2014 -- The lick that Darrin teaches in this video guitar lesson is based in the Mixolydian mode and incorporates the techniques of string skipping and hammer-on and pull-off’s. Goodman demonstrates this easy legato lick in the key of E minor as follows; 10th fret of the 6th string with first finger and the do hammer-on’s to the 12th and 14th frets with 2nd and 4th fingers and then pull-off’s back to the 10th fret.
Next, skip over the 5th string to the 4th string and repeat the same sequence performed on the 6th string. Next, play the same sequence on the 5th string and then skip the 4th string and start on the 11th fret of the 3rd string with first finger to the 12th fret with 2nd finger to the 14th fret with 4th finger using hammer-on and pull-off’s.
Now play the sequence on the 4th string again and then skip the 3rd string to the 12th fret of the 2nd string with first finger to the 13th fret with 2nd finger to the 15th fret with 4th finger using hammer-on’s and pull-off’s and then repeat the 3rd string sequence and skip the 2nd string to finally finish the lick on the first string starting on the 12th fret with first finger to the 14th fret with 3rd finger to the 15th fret with 4th finger and then back down to the 12th fret using hammer-on’s and pull-off’s. Mixolydian comes from the music theory of the ancient Greeks and was invented in the 7th century B.C. by a poet musician named Sappho.
