The international law firm Greenberg Traurig LLP continues to strengthen its transactional practice in New York with the addition of James S.H. Null as of counsel in its Tax and Global practices. Null joins Greenberg Traurig from Reed Smith.

Null’s practice is concentrated in U.S. federal tax matters, including U.S. inbound and outbound investments, domestic and international tax planning for corporate and partnership transactions, and private equity investments and structures using U.S. and non-U.S. treaty networks. He is experienced in advising U.S. media companies on foreign and domestic investments, and non-U.S. investors on inbound media investments and joint ventures. He also advises U.S. and non-U.S. entertainment clients (from both a production and talent side) on U.S. and international entertainment transactions, productions and events. Additionally, Null has advised clients on alternative energy, shipping, bankruptcy and restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, and intellectual property transactions.

“Jamie’s extensive experience in a wide range of U.S. federal tax matters bolsters our global Tax Practice and brings a new dimension to the firm’s experience in this area. He will make an immediate impact,” said Barbara Kaplan, chair of the New York Tax Practice.

Null holds an LL.M., from New York University School of Law, a J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law and a B.A. from Brandeis University. He was also a law clerk for the Honorable Eliezer Rivlin of the Supreme Court of Israel.

Greenberg Traurig – Tax Practice
To stay competitive in today's global marketplace, international companies must seek out greater efficiency in their tax planning and compliance, including coordinating tax decisions from country to country. For U.S. operations, an environment of increased scrutiny – including passage of more restrictive legislation and a spike in audit activity at every level – is quickly becoming the norm, likewise spurring a need for greater self-evaluation and for more frequent representation in controversies and litigation with tax authorities. Greenberg Traurig’s multidisciplinary tax team works closely with our clients to address these and other tax planning needs, as well as tax controversies and litigation issues.
