McKnight’s Roundtable Features Emerging Care Models and HealthMEDX iCare
(PRWEB) July 14, 2014 -- LTPAC executives are strategically focused on developing new care models to manage increasing patient acuity and complex care transitions. The July issue of McKnight’s outlines the key learnings from an executive round table that included CEOs, physicians and other executives committed to building new care models to drive more active physician involvement in post-acute care delivery. The session focused on the emerging models and the need to use technology to support remote physicians while providing onsite physicians with systems that make complex care delivery efficient.
The Roundtable, titled Prescription for Change, highlights the changing reimbursement models and increased focus on reducing unnecessary hospitalization and outlines the critical need to engage and connect physicians so they can actively monitor progress and proactively manage a change of condition.
Bruce Robertson, CEO of Sentara Senior Care is in the process of rolling out the HealthMEDX Vision product including iCare, an iOS-based mobile platform for the iPad® and iPhone® which provides physicians with access to patient/resident health information from any location and allows the physician to order and manage care online 24x7. Sentara will use iCare to strengthen its referral relationships and facilitate care transitions with the Sentara Health System. Chris Masterson, Sr. Vice President Clinical Innovations and Dr. Hassan Alkhatib, M.D. discussed the strong relationships between Greystone Healthcare Management and their local hospitalists, as well as their commitment to use iCare technology to enable that connection.
HealthMEDX CEO, Pam Pure, and Medical Director, Dr. Charles Rogers, M.D. FACC, participated in the roundtable event, providing additional feedback from the HealthMEDX Medical Advisory Board and highlighting iCare, the market leading solution for physicians. John O'Connor, McKnights’ Editorial Director and Editor James M. Berklan moderated the panel which also included Thomas Triantafillou, M.D., Covenant Retirement Communities, Michael Mutterer, Vice President Post Acute Care Services and Keith Moss, M.D., Riverside HealthCare, Ed Smolevitz, M.D., ITEX Company, Mark Fritz, CEO of Remington Medical Resorts, Diane Kane,M.D. Chief Medical Officer, St. Ann’s Community.
Dr. Chuck Rogers acknowledged that, “technology will be an essential component of the emerging LTPAC care models. Physicians embrace iCare with zero training time and have immediate access to the patient chart with the ability to review input from every member of the care team 24x7. The new iCare physician order entry system was designed by our Medical Advisory Board, a prestigious group of LTPAC physicians that drive the product direction, usability and clinical content. The solution is fine-tuned to support physicians in the LTPAC setting.”
“We are committed to providing innovative solutions that make it easier for physicians to manage care. We are proud to be working with industry leaders to support these new, emerging care models. Systems for physicians must be configurable to support the workflow variances that occur as patients’ transition through the continuum of care,” said Pure. “This session highlighted the need for streamlined documentation during those transitions. We are excited to lead the market with our iCare product and thrilled to have the active involvement and direction from our Medical Advisory Board. Our focus on bringing technology to physicians in the LTPAC setting is a strategic priority for HealthMEDX and a top priority for the industry.”
