Pets Add Life Wins 2014 PR Daily Award for "Best Viral Campaign"

The American Pet Products Association's non-profit Pets Add Life campaign receives top recognition for its effective communication and encouragement of multiple pet ownership.

Bob Vetere, American Pet Products Association (APPA) President & CEO, is pleased to announce that APPA’s non-profit public awareness campaign, Pets Add Life (PAL), is the recipient of the 2014 PR Daily Award for “Best Viral Campaign,” and is amid an exclusive group of winners across other categories of nationally recognized campaigns and brands.

“We are thrilled to receive this honor in recognition of the campaign’s viral videos and their effectiveness,” said Vetere. “The main goal of PAL and the entire video series is to spread awareness of the joys of pet ownership and to ultimately help deserving pets find loving homes, and we are so proud to receive this honor for our efforts.”

Sweeping the “Best Viral Campaign” category, PAL was recognized for its strategic communications through multiple social media platforms including YouTube and Facebook to promote the benefits of owning pets of all types and to ultimately increase multiple-pet ownership. Strategically promoting pet ownership in an entertaining way, PAL partners with Andrew Grantham, creator of the wildly popular “Ultimate Dog Tease” video and Talking Animals YouTube channel, to produce a series of viral videos in which he takes user-generated footage of pets moving their mouths and edits them into hilarious banter. PAL’s latest video, “Dogs HATE the Internet,” has received nearly a quarter-million views since its debut, and past videos from the popular series have been featured in top outlets including Huffington Post, Yahoo, MSN, and Chicago Tribune among others.
