Vionic Group Announces New Innovation Lab Members Jenny McConnell, Brian Hoke and Trevor Prior Join the Organization’s Advisory Panel
San Rafael, CA (PRWEB) July 14, 2014 -- Led by renowned podiatrist Phillip Vasyli, the Vionic Innovation Lab brings together recognized authorities from around the world who share a common vision of enhancing health—not just for their own patients or clients, but for anyone seeking a more vibrant, active lifestyle. The Innovation Lab will provide valuable health and wellness insight through speaking engagements, published work and more.
Joining noted doctor of internal medicine Andrew Weil and celebrated fitness trainer Juliet Kaska on this panel are three world-renowned experts in health and lower limb biomechanics, a specialized medical science which aims to improve the intricate alignment of feet and legs to restore optimal movement and function throughout the body.
➢ Australian Physiotherapist Jenny McConnell has spent her career researching musculoskeletal problems of the lumbar spine, shoulder and knees. She created the McConnell Patellofemoral Taping Technique, a widely utilized method of athletic taping which helps correct abnormal alignment and reduces stress on the patella during physical activity.
➢ Brian Hoke is a board certified Clinical Specialist in Sports Physical Therapy, a distinction achieved by fewer than 600 physical therapists across the U.S. He has worked with every class of athlete from Olympians and professional sports teams to recreational runners. In addition to sports therapy, Hoke specializes in orthopedics and has demonstrated a particular focus on lower limb rehabilitation.
➢ Trevor Prior has practiced Podiatry in the UK for more than 25 years, specializing in sports injuries, biomechanics and gait analysis, orthoses, diabetic foot complications, and foot surgery—all topics he has lectured on internationally. Trevor is also director of P2L, a company specializing in custom-made performance footwear such as its signature soccer boots, which provide a protective yet personalized fit and design.
➢ David Armstrong is Professor of Surgery Director of Lower Extremity Research and the Southern Arizona Limb Salvage Alliance (SALSA) University of Arizona, Tucson, and also contributes as co-director for the annual Global Diabetic Foot Conference held in Hollywood, CA. David’s specialty is in the care of the diabetic foot, and his ground breaking research and clinical experience has earned him international recognition. David is the youngest ever inductee into the American Podiatric Medical Association - APMA Hall of Fame.
“Welcoming Jenny McConnell, Brian Hoke, Trevor Prior and David Armstrong as the newest members of our Innovation Lab is a tremendous honor,” says Vionic Group Chairman Phillip Vasyli. “The breadth of experience and depth of knowledge represented by this group is an invaluable resource, which will help us continue to provide the innovation, insight and education that our customers need to live healthy lives.”
