Clean Energy Works Joins Value It Green Home Tour
Portland, OR (PRWEB) July 15, 2014 -- Today, Earth Advantage—the Portland, Oregon nonprofit provider of green building research, education and certification—announced that Clean Energy Works will join the distinguished list of supporters for its inaugural Value It Green Home Tour.
“Earth Advantage welcomes Clean Energy Works as a presenting sponsor of this fall’s premiere green home and accessory dwelling unit tour. We are thrilled to have the support of Oregon’s largest non-profit home performance provider,” said Erik Cathcart, director, marketing and strategy at Earth Advantage.
The first-ever Value It Green Home Tour is set for September 9, 2014 in Portland and will feature the most innovative and high performance green homes and ADUs in the real estate market. More than 300 real estate professionals, REALTORS, appraisers, and lenders are expected to attend this first of its kind event, in order to learn about the newest sustainable technologies, systems and features for Portland high performance homes.
Derek Smith, CEO of Clean Energy Works said, “Home performance upgrades not only create healthier, safer, more comfortable places to live, they also increase the value of our homes. This event is a fantastic way to explore how cutting edge, high performance homes are driving value in the Portland market. We are honored to be a supporter.”
Portland has a booming high performance home market. Since 2008, over 40 percent of new homes built within the city of Portland have been certified green, meaning they have qualified for either ENERGY STAR, LEED® for Homes, Passive House or Earth Advantage Home Certification. With impressive demand for green homes, it has become more important for real estate professionals to fully understand the benefits of sustainable features in order to capture their value in the marketplace.
The Value It Green tour kicks off with a luncheon at the World Forestry Center, and then proceeds with an expert-guided bus tour of new and remodeled green homes and accessory dwelling units (ADUs). An optional after party that evening features presentations from leaders in the Portland sustainability and housing community including Multnomah County Commissioner Jules Bailey; Derek Smith, CEO of Clean Energy Works; Eric Lemelson, owner of Lemelson Vineyards; Developer Joe Hanauer; and the Executive Director of the Energy Trust of Oregon, Margie Harris.
Clean Energy Works joins NW Natural and the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality as co-presenting sponsors of Value It Green. Other supporters include Energy Trust of Oregon, City of Portland Bureau of Planning and Sustainability, Portland Events and Logistics and Wells Fargo.
