Des Moines, IA (PRWEB) July 15, 2014
OutcomesMTM™ has announced the launch of 20 new Medication Therapy Management (MTM) programs. The programs, available in various locations across the United States, position local pharmacists as key healthcare providers in delivering Comprehensive Medication Reviews (CMRs), addressing medication non-adherence and closing gaps in care.
“Our national MTM network of 90,000 local pharmacists is performing at its highest level ever,” said Tim Sullivan, PharmD, OutcomesMTM Director of Network Performance. “These 20 new programs mean hundreds of thousands of new opportunities for pharmacists to further operationalize MTM, more closely align with the needs of health plans and, ultimately, impact patient care.”
According to Jessica Frank, PharmD, OutcomesMTM Vice President of Quality, the emerging opportunities reflect an increasing acceptance of the local pharmacist’s role in the delivery of quality healthcare, now oftentimes delivered within interdisciplinary teams.
“Health plans increasingly look at local pharmacists as strategic partners in pursuing and achieving their goals, particularly those related to Star Ratings,” said Frank. “Others are looking to leverage pharmacists as key players in evolving care models, such as those related to Accountable Care Organizations and Patient Centered Medical Homes. We anticipate more growth in these areas as local pharmacists continue to successfully deliver on MTM opportunities.”
The new programs join dozens of others available via the OutcomesMTM unified platform, which connects health plans with chain, independent, consultant and health system pharmacy providers across the country.
