Miraca Life Sciences’ PathConnect System Achieves ONC HIT 2014 Edition Modular EHR Certification from ICSA Labs
Irving, Texas (PRWEB) July 15, 2014 -- Miraca Life Sciences (MLS), the nation’s largest independent anatomic pathology lab, announced today that its PathConnect system, a web-based pathology workflow automation system, has achieved ONC HIT 2014 Edition Modular Ambulatory EHR certification. This certification designates that the software is capable of supporting eligible providers with meeting the Stage 1 and Stage 2 Meaningful Use measures required to qualify for funding under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). PathConnect version 4.2 was certified on June 27 by ICSA Labs, an Office of the National Coordinator-Authorized Certification Body (ONC-ACB) and is compliant in accordance with applicable criteria adopted by the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS).
PathConnect is a web-based pathology workflow automation system that enables clinicians to quickly create and submit electronic requisitions through a Practice Management system interface, automate the creation of specimen labels, view and print daily specimen logs, and access diagnostic reports and their status electronically. In addition, clinicians can search and print requisitions and diagnostic reports, as well as interface with electronic health records. Automating the pathology process will save valuable time and resources each day for clinicians and their staff.
“With this certification, our referring physicians can continue to use the intuitive anatomic pathology ordering system that saves them time creating orders, accessing results and tracking patient specimens alongside their EMR, so they are well prepared to successfully demonstrate Meaningful Use,” said Dan Kelly, Vice President of Client Connectivity at Miraca Life Sciences. “Having a certified platform allows Miraca Life Sciences to collaborate clinically and operationally with our referring physicians to deliver on our goal of healthy collaboration for healthier patients.”
PathConnect features the latest workflow improvements to help you run a physician’s practice more efficiently:
• Electronic Ordering — More efficient with fewer discrepancies. Clinicians can spend more time seeing patients.
• Specimen Log — Electronic tracking. Saves time and ensures the reports are complete and accurate.
• Labels — Automatic printing saves time and increases accuracy.
• Results — Results are electronically delivered to PathConnect, integrating all information.
ICSA Labs, an independent division of Verizon, offers vendor-neutral testing and certification. 2014 Edition ONC HIT Certification is granted to those technologies that are capable of meeting the more rigorous testing criteria developed to support providers and hospitals who wish to demonstrate Stage 2 meaningful use, which focuses on the capability of health IT to deliver higher quality patient care and exchange clinical information securely.
PathConnect 4.2’s certification number is 140152R00. ONC HIT certification conferred by ICSA Labs does not represent an endorsement of the certified EHR technology by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
PathConnect 4.2 meets the following certification criteria:
• 170.314(1)(1) Computerized provider order entry, 170.314(g)(1) Automated numerator recording, 170.314(g)(3) Safety-enhanced design, and 170.314(g)(4) Quality management system.
An eligible provider would pay no additional costs to implement this EHR module’s capabilities in order to attempt to meet meaningful use objectives and measures.
