The glowing Light Cloud visible from the street says it all: Design Within Reach is bringing something new to Seattle, in the landmark Pike Place Market neighborhood, and everybody is invited to come down, celebrate and take a look at its extensive collection of modern furniture in this beautifully refreshed space.
Design Within Reach is the world leader in authentic modern design and has been on a mission lately to open larger, streamlined Studios in major areas around the country. The Seattle Studio is the newest and shows off DWR's innovative approach to presenting modern design.
"We have the largest assortment of authentic modern furniture in the world!" says John Edelman, the CEO of DWR. "We opened bigger and brighter Studios in L.A., San Francisco and New York, and then Houston and Chicago. Now we’ve done it in Seattle, one of the great modern cities."
Edelman lights up when he talks about the new Seattle Studio and others like it, part of an exciting strategy to open brighter and bigger spaces that do justice to the company's huge assortment of authentic modern furniture and accessories.
"We want customers to share our passion for modern design," Edelman says.
They'll see that passion right off when they spot the Light Cloud blazing behind windows on First Avenue, a fantastic grouping of dozens of modern pendant lamps that says, "We're here, we're excited, and we're selling authentic modern furnishings."
Inside, customers will find an exciting new way to shop for furnishings. Sofas, beds, tables, chairs, rugs, light fixtures and accessories are arranged in "rooms" to help customers envision how pieces can work in their own homes.
Eye-catching displays like the Swatch Wall, itself a piece of beautiful design, show off more than 300 of the thousands of upholstery options from the likes of Edelman®, Spinneybeck® and Maharam. In addition, the Design Table provides a place for customers and sales associates to use the 3-D Room Planner for rendering spaces, and a large assortment of dining chairs and upholstery awaits test driving.
Throughout the Studio, well-known pieces can be found from manufacturers such as Emeco, Fritz Hansen, Herman Miller® and Knoll®, as well as designers such as Brad Ascalon, Chris Hardy, Jeffrey Bernett and Norm Architects.
The DWR Seattle Studio, remodeled and expanded to 5,000-plus square feet, is at 1918 First Ave., Seattle, WA 98101.
