HNTB Named Top 100 Majority Employee-owned U.S. Company
Kansas City, MO (PRWEB) July 15, 2014 -- For the tenth year in a row, HNTB Corporation has been ranked among the largest majority employee-owned companies in the United States.
The 2014 Employee Ownership 100 was compiled by the National Center for Employee Ownership, a national nonprofit information and membership organization designed to promote employee leadership.
HNTB’s employee stock ownership plan was established in 2000. The total value of employee accounts has grown from $13 million in the first year to $255 million. The average HNTB participating employee has an account balance of $77,000.
“Our employee owners know that HNTB’s success equals their own success,” said Rob Slimp, CEO, HNTB Corporation. “It’s estimated that 70 percent of the factors that contribute to the value of the firm’s stock are directly influenced by HNTB and its employees. So, the quality of each person’s contributions to some of the most complex infrastructure projects in the United States has a cumulative effect, making us all more engaged, productive and able to achieve our goals.”
HNTB is the 37th largest employee-owned company in the country. Rankings are based on the number of employees. To be included on the list, companies must have at least 50 percent of their shares owned by an employee stock ownership plan or similar program.
The companies on the list employ approximately 710,000 people worldwide, up from 674,000 in 2013.
