Pampa, TX (PRWEB) July 16, 2014
Pampa Independent School District of Texas has announced it has started work with Prepared Response on implementing the Rapid Responder Emergency Preparedness and Crisis Management System for its four elementary, junior high and high schools, including the Pampa Learning Center and new Central Offices Building, continuing their commitment to student and staff safety. Prepared Response and the district just completed the initial phase which brought local emergency responders together with facility officials to pre-plan how they will respond to emergencies at each campus as well as collecting critical information about each school site. All schools are planned to be active on Rapid Responder by August, ready for the start of the 2014/2015 school year. The system provides police, fire and other first responders with secure and instant access to critical campus information including floor plans, aerial imagery, emergency plans and other important information needed in the event of an emergency in order to effectively prepare for, respond to, and recover from any emergency.
“Our District and Campus leaders are always making safety improvements to our campuses and saw Rapid Responder as a tool to increase our on-going safety efforts while creating a collaborative response environment with our first responders. Rapid Responder brings all our campuses into a consistent District Plan that is tailored to each campus’ needs. Rapid Responder allows our local first responders instant access to critical campus information allowing a much more coordinated and effective effort in case of an emergency,” said Stuart Smith, Director of Student Services, Pampa ISD.
Following Texas State Standards, each school site has undergone a safety and security audit with the goal of ensuring a “safe, secure and healthy environment that is conducive to teaching and learning.” These audits provided immediate feedback to school administrators and will conclude with further opportunities for continued improvement over the course of future school years.
“Pampa ISD joins a long list of schools across the country using Rapid Responder to protect their schools,” said Jim Finnell, President and CEO of Prepared Response, Inc. “Rapid Responder will help Pampa Police and other area first responders effectively coordinate and share emergency response information with the district to protect students and staff in a crisis situation.”
Rapid Responder has been used successfully during a campus shooting, bomb threats, lock downs and other emergency situations on school campuses and other sites across the country. The system has been deployed in 27 states across the nation, more than any other system of its kind. Prepared Response has also provided onsite professional services to over 16,000 facilities including in K-12 and higher education campuses, hospitals, churches, government agencies and others throughout the United States. Rapid Responder is SAFETY Act Certified by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security as a "Qualified Anti-Terrorism Technology" and endorsed by the National Sheriffs’ Association.
