Pig Roast Added to Culinary Event Lineup at Heidel House Resort & Spa

Spend an evening dining on a roasted pig and other barbecue favorites professionally prepared by the award-winning culinary team at Heidel House Resort & Spa. Heidel House, managed by Marcus Hotels & Resorts, will host three Pig Roasts this season on Wednesdays July 23, Aug. 20 and Sept. 24 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Each Pig Roast will be held on the Heidel Terrace, the area outside lower BoatHouse overlooking Green Lake. Resort guests and area residents are all welcome to enjoy this new summer event.

Guests will be able to choose from three unique flavors of barbecue sauce to complement their roasted pig. These flavors are cinnamon orange barbecue, mango barbecue and spicy barbecue.

The Pig Roast will be cooked in what is known as a China Box Roaster.

“Essentially, the roaster we will be using is a convection oven that cooks three times faster than the conventional way,” Bryan Markel, Grey Rock sous chef, said. “The China Box Roaster keeps the pork moist and tender but cooks the skin to a crispy, golden brown.”

The dinner, served buffet style, also includes grilled barbecue chicken, potato salad, coleslaw, fruit salad, grilled squash, corn on the cob, southern mac and cheese, roasted baked potato and sweet potatoes with fixings, corn bread, fruit pies and strawberry short cake.

“Heidel House hosts many events year round – Lobster Bakes, Beer Cruises, brunches and buffets” Scott Krause, Heidel House general manager, said. “This year, we are adding to that list with our first Pig Roast. With some good food and company, we expect it to be a great success.”
