Dr. Agnieszka Kent Joins Newtown Veterinary Specialists as Staff Cardiologist
Newtown, CT (PRWEB) July 21, 2014 -- Dr. Agnieszka Kent has joined Newtown Veterinary Specialists (NVS) as staff Cardiologist. NVS is an advanced 24-hour critical care, emergency and specialty pet hospital located at 52 Church Hill Road in Newtown, CT.
Dr. Kent is one of the few full-time board-certified veterinary cardiologists in the state of Connecticut. She has received many years of higher-level academic and clinical training and has excelled in rigorous tests to achieve her credentials as a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine with a subspecialty in cardiology.
Knowledgeable in the most sophisticated diagnostic and therapeutic methods, she evaluates and treats dogs and cats with symptoms of heart or lung disease, including cough, difficulty breathing or shortness of breath, collapse, abdominal swelling, and exercise intolerance.
If the family veterinarian detects an abnormality that needs further investigation, such as extra heart sound, heart murmur or irregular heartbeat, the pet may be referred to Dr. Kent for specialized care. Cardiology services she offers at NVS include echocardiography, electrocardiography, Doppler blood pressure monitoring, Holter monitoring, event monitoring, digital radiography, cardiac OFA examinations, and pericardiocentesis. Some of her points of interest include feline cardiac disease, left atrial function, congenital heart disease, and congestive heart failure therapy.
Dr. Kent earned her degree in veterinary medicine from the Atlantic Veterinary College at the University of Prince Edward Island in Charlottetown, Canada, in 2007. She went on to complete a one-year internship in small-animal medicine and surgery at the Ontario Veterinary College, University of Guelph, in Canada. In 2011, Dr. Kent completed a three-year residency in Cardiology and a Master’s degree in Comparative and Veterinary Medicine at the Ohio State University in Columbus and received Diplomate status from the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM), subspecialty cardiology. Following the completion of her residency, Dr. Kent developed the cardiology service at the DMV Veterinary Center in Montreal, Quebec, where she remained until joining NVS.
Dr. Kent is committed to providing the highest quality care to family pets with compassion and a thorough approach.
