What’s new for 2014? This year’s topics are reflective of industry shifts in the last year, responding to the biggest needs of today’s data viz gurus, visual designers, data scientists and business executives. This year’s agenda will focus on visualizing open data, the impact of data visualization on business decision-making, user interaction with data and creating visualizations for mobile.

In his presentation entitled, ‘You Aren’t Visualizing Data, You’re Telling Stories,’ Tory will discuss the challenges and experiences in his role, comparing the principles of great data visualization with the principles of good journalism, an ethos that works hand in hand at USA Today. The presentation will highlight how USA Today implements interactive storytelling by using accurate, entertaining and simple visualizations.
