Skycasters to Provide High-Speed Satellite Internet for Soap Box Derby
Akron, OH (PRWEB) July 22, 2014 -- For the fifth straight year, All-American Soap Box Derby (AASBD) officials have asked Skycasters, a leading provider of business satellite Internet services, to provide live streaming video via satellite Internet for this great American event, taking place on Saturday, July 26.
The All-American Soap Box Derby (AASBD) has been drawing crowds to Akron, Ohio, since 1934. Children and teenagers from around the country come to test their skills on Derby Downs Hill while parents and family members urge them on to the finish line—a place where 1/100,000 of a second can differentiate between cheers and tears.
Skycasters began providing satellite Internet service for the Derby in 2009, when the AASBD wanted to expand the reach of the event, but could not secure a cost-effective terrestrial connection for a once-a-year occurrence. While the Derby does have Internet service in their offices, their existing provider could not supply the speeds required for video streaming.
Skycasters provides the AASBD with a high-speed satellite Internet connection suitable for video streaming using its MST Mobile Satellite Internet Trailer.
“This self-contained, mobile communications trailer can connect to the Internet via satellite anytime, from anywhere,” says James “Skip Anderson, Skycasters director of sales and marketing. “These qualities make our service a popular choice for production companies, video surveillance, and customers in the disaster response and oil, gas & mining industries, as well as other remote businesses.”
At the Derby video tower, high above the finish line, officials will connect to the Skycasters MST on the ground with a long CAT5 cable. This simple solution provides the Derby with the high-speed connection it needs to create a live, global webcast complete with streaming video that’s smooth and “jitter-free.”
“Skycasters is committed to providing high-quality, low-latency satellite Internet to all of our customers, and we are proud to be a part of the All-American Soap Box Derby tradition,” says Anderson.
The company also provides video conferencing via satellite Internet, along with a several satellite Internet streaming packages tailored to the specific needs of end-users.
