Ottawa University Grad Needs Help to Attend Toronto Film Festival
Ottawa, ON (PRWEB) July 23, 2014 -- For Marc-Andre Thibert of Ottawa, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
A recent graduate of Ottawa University with a strong interest in the film industry, Thibert was recently selected to be an intern at the Toronto International Film Festival, which will be held Sept. 3-11. There is a special program, Creative Minds in Toronto, set up for people like him.
It provides an opportunity for students to connect with companies that can launch their careers. Only 75 interns are chosen globally.
There’s only one thing standing in Thibert’s way: $2,400.
He needs $2,400 to participate. This fee covers pre-festival orientation, accommodations, meals, shuttle transportation, and admission to events.
“It’s an unbelievable opportunity and I was very fortunate to be chosen,” said Thibert. “The program consists of workshops, film screenings, red carpet parties, and exclusive networking opportunities with highly respectable film industry professionals. This is exactly what I need to get my career started.”
He participated in Star Search as a teen and later became a male model, completing the Professional Male Modeling Program. Thibert worked with Emmy Award-winning filmmaker, Janet Urban, from Los Angeles and was recognized by Chris Massardo from the Press Fashion Magazine.
In order to raise the $2,400, Thibert has launched an Indiegogo campaign, which can be viewed at https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/help-marc-go-to-the-toronto-int-film-festival-2014/x/8145776. He is looking for support from filmmakers and actors who remember how they received breaks to launch their careers.
Donations of any amount are welcome. For $25, Thibert gets a celebrity autograph of the contributor’s choosing and sends it to the donor. A $30 pledge is rewarded with an official Toronto International Film Festival souvenir.
“Creative Minds in Toronto takes a select group of interns to the festival with one mission in mind: Identify the next generation of talented film & TV professionals and usher them into the entertainment industry,” Thibert said.
“I’m really hoping to receive enough support from the Indiegogo community to take advantage of this opportunity.”
