UK Network to Show the Lifestyles of the Rich
Washington (PRWEB) July 24, 2014 -- According to British media reports, a 17-year-old British teen launched a campaign on social media sites involving pictures of kids showing off their wealth, so that all the users get a glimpse of their extravagant lifestyles.
This 17-year-old British boy, who allegedly began to invest in stocks at the age of 12, considers himself to be a member of the “rich generation.” He broadcasts his luxurious life through social media sites using his own pictures, but also collects other “rich kids’” pictures and posts the most outlandish on his site.
Almost every post is full of arrogant captions. In one photo, a teenager uses a Louis Vuitton bag to cover the smoke alarm on the ceiling. The caption reads: “how to safely smoke in your dorm room.”
Some photos even ridicule the poor. In one of the photos, a pair of canvas shoes can be seen painted with the luxury brand “Chanel” logo, and captioned: “This is the scholarship kids can afford to pay.”
The craze has also spurred a new TV show “Beverly Hills Rich Kids”, the program describes rich kids luxurious lives.
Inspiring young people to succeed?
So far, these photos have not only accumulated over 250,000 “likes” on Facebook, but have also sparked widespread controversy. Charlotte Zhang, a student, believes that these photographs do not just show off wealth, but confirms the widespread rise of materialism to a certain extent, as well as a more and more hypocritical notion of moral standards.
Many users have criticized the behavior seen in these photos. “In 1987, I worked hard and earned £ 500 to buy my first car,” one user said. “Although it is not a good car, the wonderful feeling of accomplishment I had, one which cannot be put into words, is something these kids will never appreciate.”
Facing overwhelming criticism, the creator insisted that the move was to inspire young people towards upward mobility. He also stressed that he will donate more than 80% of proceeds to more than 100 charities. “I started this activity originally just for fun, not to be malicious,” He said. “I want this activity to continue, just trying to inspire young people and encourage them to set goals, like me. An intelligent person can be successful, why not try?”
What do real rich people at the millionaire dating site MillionaireMatch.com think of this activity and how do they enjoy their luxury lifestyle? One member wrote, “I like driving my custom car.” While another member from Virginia said, "I enjoy my weekly cup of coffee and a bagel at Starbucks : - ).” It seems not all super rich people care about buying luxury products.
What do you think of the above activities? How do you enjoy your luxurious lifestyle?
