Norfolk Tug to Recruit at Professional Mariner Job Fair at CMTI
Gloucester, Va. (PRWEB) July 23, 2014 -- Chesapeake Marine Training Institute (CMTI) is pleased to announce that Norfolk Tug will be among the maritime companies recruiting new talent at its professional mariner job fair August 13 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the CMTI campus in Hayes, Va.
Vane Brothers will also be on hand recruiting professional mariners.
Founded in 1998, Norfolk Tug is part of the American Waterways Operators and operates a fleet of 10 vessels. With tugs ranging in size from 66 to 100 feet, Norfolk Tug operates in ocean, coastal, near coastal, inland, bay and bay tributary waterways.
In addition to tugs, they also provide for the safe movement of a variety of products and containers including fertilizer, coal, aggregate, petroleum, steel, and dredge products.
Norfolk Tug also provides “project work” services involving multiple barge and tug tows, dredge tending and scow tow work, and a variety of services for general assistance to marine based construction projects.
According to Norfolk Tug, “We recognize that working on the water requires skillful judgment and leadership from the wheelhouse and port office.”
Among the mariners the companies are seeking include wheelhouse tug operators, engineers, and tankermen.
Mariners of all license and credential levels are encouraged to attend.
Chesapeake Marine Training Institute staff and instructors will be available to work with job candidates on licensing and credentialing needs as needed.
Mariners are encouraged to register for the free job fair.
“Not only are we honored to help prepare every mariner that comes through our doors with the training and education they’ll need when they are out to sea,” said Capt. Guy Sorensen, President and Founder of Chesapeake Marine Training Institute, “but we want to make sure we can help place them with the companies that need them most.”
Marine companies interested in attending as a vendor are welcome. Hiring managers should contact Chesapeake Marine Training Institute to sign up.
Chesapeake Marine Training Institute will provide table display space for companies to meet and greet job applicants, as well as private rooms to interview potential candidates. Space to attend the event as a professional marine company is free, but limited and available on a first come, first served basis.
Applicants and vendors attending the event from out of the area are eligible to use the Chesapeake Marine Training Institute rate at nearby hotels.
