College and university planners are addressing the enormous growth in alternative transportation interest on campuses. This growth includes a keen increase in on-campus bicycling and related bike commuting by students, faculty and staff. Master planning issues include bikeways, parking and protection from theft. Bicycle theft has become a major problem on campuses concurrent with the growing popularity of bicycling.
Velodome Shelters' product offering of secure, covered bike parking shelters provides a significant solution to the problem of theft and the need for protection from the elements. The secure shelters are led by the Velodome Guardian and the Europa compound or the Europa Single with Gates in multi-unit configurations. These are coupled with various custom-designs that can be available for specific needs and settings. College planners, architects and administrators can work closely with product design and manufacturing firms such as Velodome to continue providing solutions to meet evolving bicycle transportation and parking needs.
