PhysicianOne Urgent Care Physicians Become Certified Medical Examiners for DOT Physicals
Brookfield, CT (PRWEB) July 22, 2014 -- There's great news for Connecticut commercial drivers scrambling to meet new Department of Transportation regulations: all PhysicianOne Urgent Care physicians are now certified medical examiners for the US Department of Transportation (DOT).
To ensure the safety of everyone on the road, the DOT enforces strict standards to make sure all professional drivers are physically qualified to operate limousines, taxis, trucks, and other commercial vehicles. Recently, the federal department added new requirements demanding that all examining physicians be registered and certified by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA).
Now that every PhysicianOne clinic staffs physicians who are certified by the FMCSA to perform these mandatory physicals, commercial drivers can enjoy the convenience of lower costs and easier scheduling at all PhysicianOne Connecticut locations.
"PhysicianOne is an ideal place for busy commercial drivers and their employers to get their DOT physicals," said Dr. Jeannie Kenkare, Chief Medical Officer at PhysicianOne Urgent Care. "Not only do we use advanced technology and equipment to quickly and painlessly ensure that all drivers are compliant with DOT regulations, our certified physicians are available extended hours, 365 days a year, including holidays. Drivers are free to walk in without an appointment at any one of our locations to get a physical or any other occupational health service they may need.”
For most drivers, DOT physicals involve tests that assess visual acuity and color discernment, blood pressure evaluation, urine testing, hearing testing, and other testing required to determine the driver’s physical and medical qualifications for driving a commercial motor vehicle.
