Lampert Capital Markets, Inc. announced today the formation of the Lampert Capital Markets Research Division with the appointment of Charles Kaplan as Chief Research Analyst. The addition of Mr. Kaplan continues the Firm’s innovative approach to creating a different and improved equity product that is attractive to both institutional and retail investors alike.

Charles Kaplan brings over three decades of experience in reviewing and valuing companies across a broad spectrum of industries. Charles develops dynamic investment themes that serve as the foundation for selecting companies likely to benefit from major macroeconomic shifts. Like iconic investors Michael Price and Seth Klarman, Charles follows the analytic framework and approach pioneered by the legends Max Heine and Buzzy Geduld. At Herzog, Heine & Geduld, Mr. Kaplan worked closely with Buzzy Geduld as Head of Equity Research and he continues to use their approach in developing enterprise valuation and forecasting models for determining a company’s intrinsic value. His expertise extends to a wide range of industries including Biotech, Specialty Chemical, Electronics, Materials, Energy and Industrial Companies.

Charles Kaplan is a well-known research analyst, formerly with Merrill Lynch and Du Pasquier. He was the author of several newspaper and magazine columns including Barron’s, OTC Review Magazine and Special Situations Newsletter. According to Eric Schweitzer, President, “Charles is contributing daily to a flow of investment ideas for our clients.” Clients not only benefit from his long term vision for companies, but his special situations knowledge and expertise has brought more contemporaneous trading ideas to those clients oriented in that way. His focus list, published weekly, contributes to the development of traditional equity portfolios comprised of strong, well-performing companies to be held in a diversified portfolio.

“Charles’ incisive analysis, worldly views and depth of knowledge will serve the interests of our investing clients and the financing needs of our corporations,” said Randy Lampert, CEO of Lampert Capital Markets. “Charles will be critical to our development as we continue to expand the breadth of our products and underwriting capacities. Of equal importance is Charles’ intellectual integrity and client orientation - key attributes that characterize our culture and values.”
