Villa del Palmar at the Islands of Loreto, the newest member of Villa Group Resorts, is thrilled with the recent announcement that WestJet, Canada's most-preferred airline, will launch non-stop weekly service between Calgary and the Islands of Loreto beginning on February 14, 2015, just in time for a romantic Valentine’s Day getaway.

The Islands of Loreto will begin seeing new guests arrive from a weekly Saturday flight beginning in February, through April 2015. Flights will be operated on WestJet’s fleet of Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft, with flight times synched perfectly for easy, hassle-free connections from major Canadian cities on WestJet’s partner carrier Encore. Inbound flights to the region will depart Calgary at 9 a.m. and arrive at the Islands of Loreto at 12:55 p.m. Service from Loreto is slated to depart at 1:50 p.m., with return flights arriving in Calgary at 5:56 p.m.

The addition of service from Calgary signifies a continued interest in the Islands of Loreto as a vacation destination for both domestic and international travelers.

“We’ve been in discussions with WestJet for quite some time regarding the Islands of Loreto as a premier vacation destination for Canadian travelers, and the timing of the new flight service is just right. We’re thrilled that WestJet recognizes the unparalleled potential for tourism in the region, as we do at the Villa Group,” said Owen Perry, co-owner and president of Villa Group. “With the ease of travel that WestJet’s new service will provide to our Canadian guests, more travelers will be able to experience the unrivaled natural beauty of the region and the endless opportunities Villa del Palmar at the Islands of Loreto provides for romance, adventure and relaxation. We believe this is the start of a long relationship between WestJet and the Islands of Loreto.”

Nestled in the majestic Sierra de la Giganta mountain range and situated on one of the most pristine coastlines in the world along the Sea of Cortez, Villa del Palmar at the Islands of Loreto allows guests to enjoy the unspoiled beauty and charm of the Baja, including unobstructed nighttime views of “a million” stars.

An outdoor explorer’s paradise, the resort offers a full slate of adventure, including stand-up paddle boarding, glass-bottom kayaking, hiking and PADI-certified SCUBA diving lessons in the indigo waters that explorer Jacques Cousteau once dubbed the “Aquarium of the World.”

Expanded offerings include glamping (or “glamorous camping”) in a luxury beachfront Danzante Bungalow, world-class sport fishing aboard the resort’s Mad Dash tournament boat, and tours of the nearby Coronado, Danzante and Del Carmen Islands atop an APEX boat. The resort is currently preparing for the addition of a 7,400-yard Rees Jones-designed golf course that will overlook the breathtaking Danzante Bay and the Sea of Cortez.

If relaxation and re-connection are on the agenda, guests can take advantage of 39,000 square feet of pampering at the resort’s Sabila Spa and Wellness Center, as well as beachfront yoga, five swimming pools, themed nights and three restaurants offering gourmet dining.

With more than 100 miles of coastline, 300 sunny days a year and year-round surface temperatures averaging in the 80s, the Islands of Loreto offers the perfect getaway.
