Steamboat Bay Fishing Club Welcomes Executive Chef Meagan Kilgore
Ketchikan, Alaska (PRWEB) July 23, 2014 -- Meagan Kilgore, a seasoned chef specializing in Pacific Northwest cuisine, has been appointed Executive Chef at Steamboat Bay Fishing Club. Chef Kilgore will oversee all dining operations at the luxury lodge located on Noyes Island, near Ketchikan, Alaska.
Previously, Chef Kilgore served as Executive Chef of Copper River Lodge in Pope Vannoy, Alaska, a subsidiary of Sweetwater Travel. Prior to that, she served as Executive Chef at Journey’s Pub, a small pub-bistro in Portland, Ore. where she fine-tuned her expertise in classic American cuisine with a Pacific Northwest twist. Chef Kilgore’s background also includes tenures at Tualatin Country Club in Tualatin, Ore. and at Sea Sport Cruises in Wailuku, Hawaii, where she opened and developed Ola Catering and Porto Pizzeria.
In her new role, Chef Kilgore has introduced regionally inspired gourmet menus that resonate with Steamboat Bay Fishing Club's guests. Her comfort food offers familiarity, with the injection of new flavors to inspire guests’ palettes. For example, the current signature dish is Spanish halibut served over roasted garlic-garbanzo bean mousse, finished with roasted corn, lemon-tomato broth, and green olive tapenade. The Club offers a rotating menu, and Chef Kilgore prepares made-to-order appetizer options using fresh Alaskan seafood, which can range to everything from Salmon, crab, Alaska Spot Prawn, and even octopus. Guests enjoy hearty favorites such as wild game, and indigenous Alaskan ingredients including Salmonberries. Fresh herbs are grown in an onsite greenhouse including parsley, chives, thyme, oregano and baby beet greens. The lodge offers an open concept display kitchen, which allows guests to interact with Chef Kilgore and her culinary team.
“We are thrilled to welcome Meagan to our leadership team,” said Steamboat Bay Fishing Club’s General Manager Steve Cockrell. “She exhibits incredible enthusiasm and passion for developing innovative meals each day, which has elevated the dining experience for our guests.”
