The American College of Radiology has accredited HealthFair in the Mammography Accreditation Program which is a requirement for all U.S. facilities. This program provides peer review and feedback on staff qualifications, equipment, quality control and assurance, image quality and dose. It is the largest accreditation program for mammography.
HealthFair, a health and wellness company, provides mammograms in a private, self-contained exam room onboard their mobile health centers. While providing affordable access, the mobile health centers also are designed to provide a comfortable and confidential atmosphere.
Terrence Diaz, CEO and President of HealthFair, states “We are thrilled to receive this accreditation. This proves the quality of our mammography program by showing that we meet all of the requirements of the Mammography Quality Standards Act.”
Mammography is a screening tool that uses X-rays to create images of the breast. These images, called mammograms, are used to find early signs of breast cancer such as a dense mass or clusters of calcium (microcalcifications). Mammography is the best screening tool for breast cancer used today. It can find cancers at an early stage, when they are small (too small to be felt) and the chances of survival are highest.
Early detection of breast cancer with screening mammography means that treatment can be started earlier in the course of the disease, possibly before it has spread.
