Event Recognizes Seniors’ Distinct Contributions to their Communities

Cyndi Cummings, founder of the Austin Senior Resource Alliance (ASRA), announced today that Austin’s First Annual Seniors Awards Luncheon in Celebration of National Senior Citizen’s Day will be held on August 21, 2014 at 11 a.m.

“Despite demographic shifts toward an aging population, our culture remains largely focused on youth,” Cummings noted. As the key sponsor of the upcoming event she added, “National Seniors Day represents a perfect opportunity draw attention to this vital segment of the population and to honor seniors who are making important contributions to their communities.”

As such, she is distinctly qualified to assist members the mature market with all of the complexities involved in late-in-life transitions.

“Fully 10,000 members of the Baby Boom generation – the largest demographic block in the history of the United States – are now turning 65 every day,” Cummings noted. “Considering that one in every four sellers is over the age of 65, according to research conducted by the National Association of REALTORs®, it’s clear that the rapidly growing seniors population merits heightened attention from the real estate industry, as well as every segment of society.”

“Working with seniors is a labor of love for me,” Cummings said. “My sponsorship of the Austin Senior Resource Alliance Seniors Awards Luncheon is very much an extension of that. The luncheon will celebrate senior citizens as a whole, as well as special honorees who were nominated by residents and staff of senior living communities around Austin.”

“Each one of the nominees has an exceptional love of service and a fascinating life story. I want to encourage Austinites to understand the importance of our senior population, and especially those we will honor at our luncheon,” Cummings said.

The National Senior Citizens’ Day Luncheon and Awards ceremony will be held at the Renaissance Arboreum Hotel in Austin on August 21, 2014 at 11 a.m.
