A new report by IDC finds that organizations that unlock the value in all types of content make better business decisions, personalize customer interactions, optimize operations, and innovate more. Two of Smartlogic's clients are used in the report as examples of companies that are realizing the full value of their unstructured content through the use of innovative technologies.

KPMG, an audit and professional services firm, is using Semaphore to help financial services clients improve their client onboarding processes, and to ensure compliance with anti-money laundering and anti-tax evasion regulations globally. KPMG has partially automated the process of extracting and analyzing information from the large amounts of paper and unstructured information collected as clients are onboarded. This has improved efficiency in client processing by 50 percent or more.
ALLDATA, a provider of original equipment manufacturer service and repair information to the professional automotive service and collision industries, is using Semaphore to help mechanics find information they need to diagnose vehicle problems, identify the parts required to make repairs, and guide mechanics through the most efficient repair options. This requires access to technical documentation, as well as the ability to bring together information from an array of sources such as past repair histories, failure patterns, error codes, and engine sensor readings at once. ALLDATA has seen an almost 5,000 percent improvement in data ingestion and processing processes since it began to use Semaphore.
The IDC study goes on to say that companies have under-invested in technologies that let them understand and leverage their unstructured content even though, "Unlocking the value hidden in unstructured content is more critical than ever." This is especially true given how important it is to look at structured and unstructured data together.
