MasterCPE Announces It Has Received National QAS Self-Study Designation for CPA CPE Instruction
(PRWEB) July 26, 2014 -- Certified public accountants across the country can now build upon their skills by signing up for CPA for CPE courses from MasterCPE. The company has recently been notified by the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy that it has been granted its QAS Self-Study designation. The designation certifies that the company’s CPA CPE curriculum adheres to the NASBA’s established criteria and standards.
The QAS Self-Study designation is the joining of two systems created by the NASBA – the National Registry of CPE sponsors and the Quality Assurance Service sponsors, which was specifically designed for online CPA CPE courses. MasterCPE became a member of the organization’s national registry in 2012 after a year’s qualification process and began the process for QAS Self-Study in 2013. To earn designation under this new program, NASBA mandates the following:
• A required category of courses, determined by the NASBA
• Course and question/answer format on final exams and review questions that adhere to NASBA guidelines
• Record keeping and certificates that meet NASBA requirements
• Measurement of course CPE hours that meet NASBA requirements
• The participation of a CPA, an IRS enrolled agent or a tax attorney in the development of all courses covering specific topics.
In addition, providers of CPA for CPE courses must also show the NASBA that they have enlisted the assistance of a CPA for the development of each auditing and account course they offer. The new QAS Self-Study designation allows MasterCPE to offer their online CPE courses to CPAs in all 50 states and provides reassurance to accounting professionals that the courses are of the highest quality.
The NASBA approval notice contained the following statement: “Approval for the QAS Self Study delivery method affirms your commitment to the delivery of high quality continuing professional education and means that all self-study programs developed, presented, measured and reported in compliance in with the Statement of Standards for Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Programs (revised January 2012) (Standards) and the program requirements of the National Registry of CPE Sponsors are considered QAS approved.”
MasterCPE offers accounting professionals a subscription for $149 that enables CPAs to take as many courses as they like (ethics courses are not covered by the subscription.) The fee includes course materials, certificates and the grading process, and there are hundreds of courses for professionals to select from.
