DJ's from 106.9 The Eagle will provide music all the way to the finish line, where refreshments will be waiting from sponsors, including Starbucks Coffee, Panera's Bread, The Common Market, and The Buzz from Monrovia, and more. Winners in each age group take home awards. Amazing giveaways and a raffle round out the day.
Noah Grove, who lost a leg to childhood cancer and will be the youngest member of the U.S. Amputee Soccer League, will be handing out water bottles and representing sponsor Ability Prosthetics & Orthotics.
The money raised "truly makes a difference," according to race organizer Rachel Cuesta of Urbana. "The last thing a family should have to worry about when their child has been diagnosed with a life-threatening illness is how they are going to pay for it," Cuesta said. "Danny Thomas (founder of St. Jude Hospital) believed that 'no child should die in the dawn of life,' and I'm determined to help carry out that dream of his!"
