Construction Begins for Whole Foods at Tech Center at Oyster Point
Newport News, Virginia (PRWEB) July 24, 2014 -- Construction has started for Whole Foods grocery store at Tech Center at Oyster Point, a new mixed-use center located in the heart of Newport News. The project is an ongoing collaboration between the City of Newport News, Virginia Tech, Timmons Group, the W. M. Jordan Company, S.J. Collins Enterprises and other partners. It is based on the internationally acclaimed Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center in Blacksburg and is expected to enhance the Newport News economy by providing opportunities for working, living and playing.
When complete the mixed-use community will offer over 250 apartment homes, 50,000 square feet of specialty office spaces and 260,000 square feet of shopping and restaurants. A fitness center and over a half-million square feet of research space are also planned. These projects will cost an estimated $100 million in construction and should be completed by the summer of 2015.
Timmons Group has provided site/civil engineering and transportation planning services for the development of this project as well as surveying, environmental services, stormwater management plans, landscape design, roadway and traffic signal improvements, utility engineering, and the preparation of construction documents.
