Green Grove Gardens at I-81, Exit 5 in Greencastle is holding a hot air balloon festival on July 25 through July 27. It is definitely one of the memorable events in Franklin County!

It is so lovely when balloon after balloon takes to the skies over farmland and mountain peaks. It is unforgettable.

Take a mid-summer break this weekend--July 25-27--at Summer Sky Fest, Green Grove Gardens, in Greencastle PA, I-81, Exit 5. Year-round, the 40 acres of Green Grove Gardens bursts with vibrant gardens, flowing fountains and breath-taking views. It is so lovely it is hard to imagine it could be more beautiful, but when balloon after balloon takes to the skies over farmland and mountain peaks, it is a sight that is best appreciated in-person. It is unforgettable.

Everything kicks off Friday evening, July 25, with art, craft and food vendors, a karaoke contest, an outdoor movie--Despicable Me 2, and a balloon ascension approximately an hour before sunset. Admittance is by the carload, so it is family-friendly and affordable. The price for Friday evening is $20/carload and both Saturday and Sunday admission is $25/carload. A weekend pass of $50 is available, also.
Saturday festivities include clowns, magicians, a reptile show, helicopter rides, and the featured entertainment is Alex Hilton Band along with a morning balloon ascension about an hour before sunrise and another an hour before sunset. A must-see is the Saturday evening balloon glow as the skies fall dark, about 9:15 PM to 9:45 PM.

Sunday repeats the art, craft and food vendors and the special entertainment is the Tri-State Band, and of course, the beautiful ascension of balloon an hour before sunrise and sunset.

Free-flight balloon rides are being offered all days by Sandpiper Balloons. Contact at 717-577-2482 or email wndjamr(at)aol(dot)com to secure a flight. Tethered rides are available Saturday and Sunday afternoon.
