Charlotte Auto Industry Visionary Forms the Scott McCorkle Family of Dealerships
Industry veteran Scott McCorkle of Charlotte, NC has recently expanded his family of dealerships. He purchased Mount Airy Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram and Mount Airy Toyota Scion. Both dealerships are located in the heart of Mount Airy, North Carolina. Some may remember Mount Airy as the popular television town of Mayberry RFD.
McCorkle also owns Liberty Buick GMC in Charlotte, NC. This dealership literally straddles the line between Charlotte and Matthews, NC. Because of this dealership’s southern boundaries McCorkle’s reach into Union County offers a very real marketing advantage.
While much of McCorkle’s strategy may involve following the ever-increasing population of North Carolina, a more important item to note may be his impressive increase in brands. His family of dealerships in the state now includes the following popular auto brands.
Adding these new brands to his automotive portfolio affords him the opportunity to sell to a wide range of socioeconomic backgrounds and automotive preferences. This range of products includes every model from the most luxurious Buick LaCrosse to the work-horse Ram 3500 Truck.
As a seasoned auto executive for more than 20 years, McCorkle’s expansion is in line with his vision for his industry. “I believe that consumers are seeking premium quality vehicles that are also practical, reliable and most importantly affordable.”
“Buick’s Encore is a good example. This compact crossover brings a level of luxury and sophistication not typically found in this class of car,” says McCorkle. “Right from the start, the demand for the Buick Encore was high. And I believe it is the right size for many consumers. It strikes a nice balance of price, technology and safety,” he added.
McCorkle was attracted to the Toyota brand for its environmentally-friendly hybrid vehicles. The Toyota Prius now commands one-quarter of the U.S. market among 45 other hybrids sold in this country. According to Autoblog Green, hybrid sales could hit 8 percent of the market by 2020.
The Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram brands are also producing vehicles that McCorkle believes are meeting the practical needs car shoppers today, and in the future. “Many of these brands bring models that support a recreational lifestyle,” says McCorkle. In 2014, the demand for the Jeep Cherokee is so strong that Jeep is building 300,000 more cars in the U.S.
The Scott McCorkle Family of Dealerships now includes Liberty Buick GMC, Mount Airy Toyota and Mount Airy Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram.
