Industry-Leader MoneyDesktop Appoints Brandon Dewitt Chief Technology Officer
Provo, Utah (PRWEB) July 24, 2014 -- MoneyDesktop, leading provider of digital banking-based personal financial management (PFM) products to banks and credit unions, announced vice president of engineering, Brandon Dewitt, as chief technology officer, effective immediately.
As the first CTO at MoneyDesktop, Dewitt will continue to lead the engineering team’s initiatives to produce cutting-edge technology. He joined the Provo startup in 2011 after coordinating MoneyDesktop’s successful acquisition of MyJibe, co-founded by Dewitt, just nine months after MyJibe launched. Prior to that, Dewitt ran custom software at Experian; creating complex loan origination and decisioning systems delivered via the SaaS model to more than 1,100 banks and credit unions across the country.
“MoneyDesktop’s core strength is its team and Brandon Dewitt has always been a driver, creator and leading example of that strength,” said Ryan Caldwell, CEO and founder of MoneyDesktop. “To that end Brandon has, in everything but title, been our CTO for well over two years and it is far overdue to have his title updated to match the key role he has always played.”
Caldwell recounts, “Beyond being an exceptionally rare leader, I will never forget when one of the top engineers in this space told me, after just a short time working with him, that not only was Brandon the smartest engineer he had ever worked with, but that Brandon was very likely the smartest engineer he would ever work with throughout his entire career. That is the level of excellence Brandon demands of himself and exhibits to the team he leads.”
More than just a member of management at MoneyDesktop, Dewitt takes his expertise back to the community. Dewitt prioritizes opportunities to participate in startup events such as DevMountain, 1MillionCups and Startup Peoria. He also advises other technology companies, regularly speaks at universities and contributes to open source projects.
“Be passionate to the point of ridicule,” says Dewitt. “Practice objectivity and remember: Money is a byproduct of value, and value is a product of hard work. So work hard.”
Prior to co-founding MyJibe, Dewitt’s early years at Baker Hill and Experian developed his expertise at programming and solidified his ability to facilitate sales and acquisitions of companies, which has translated to the precise combination of experience necessary to build and lead an award-winning engineering team at MoneyDesktop.
“We’re all builders,” said Dewitt. “In engineering, we focus on expanding our capabilities and propelling our software platform to an entirely new level of potency and power.”
This Illinois State University graduate can be found coding late into the night, beating any challenger at ping pong and, if you’re really lucky, singing in the stairwell — all with coffee in hand.
