Eventbrite, the global self-service ticketing and event discovery platform, today announced the hiring of Laurent Sellier as its vice president of product. Sellier will oversee and drive the strategy behind Eventbrite product, including the company’s ticketing and registration technology for organizers, and innovative mobile and web consumer products that enable people everywhere to discover relevant experiences and events.
Sellier comes to Eventbrite most recently from Twitter, where he was a director of product focused on product strategy for Twitter’s mobile apps suite, and led Twitter’s recent redesign of the product used by more than 250 million people around the world. Most recently, he led a cross functional team focused on accelerating Twitter’s adoption in emerging markets.
Prior to Twitter, Sellier lead the team at Amazon that brought Kindle to market and was instrumental in building the multi-billion dollar Kindle business from the ground up. His last project at Amazon was to bring the award winning Kindle Paperwhite to market.
"There are few people in the world who have the depth and breadth of experience we are looking for as we build our discovery product and round out Eventbrite as the global marketplace for live experiences," said Kevin Hartz, CEO of Eventbrite. "Laurent’s passion for Eventbrite combined with the wealth of experience he brings from Twitter and Amazon in discovery, mobile, social, consumer and marketplace businesses is unmatched, and we are thrilled to have him lead our worldwide product strategy."
As VP of Product at Eventbrite, Sellier will build on the success of Eventbrite’s ticketing and registration technology products and strategically develop the consumer side of Eventbrite’s business, including discovery and mobile applications.
“Being at the nexus of technology, mobile, and events, Eventbrite has a unique opportunity to connect people around the world to great live experiences,” said Laurent Sellier, vice president of product at Eventbrite. “Eventbrite’s traction on the organizer side of the business has been extraordinary, and I'm thrilled to be on board to build a robust attendee discovery product, and bring to life the events marketplace that is waiting to happen on Eventbrite.”
Sellier joins the executive team at Eventbrite along with other recent hires, including April Chang, VP of Consumer Engineering; and David Good, Director of Discovery Engineering - both hired this summer.
