When Facebook held its initial public offering, investors were skeptical of its valuation and ability to monetize their platform, but Facebook has been making a turnaround in the eyes of investors and advertisers alike by capitalizing on mobile ads and now e-commerce. According to Facebook's Investor Relations, their revenue jumped 61% from just a year ago. With such a large jump in revenue fueled by mobile advertising, the question arises, “Is Facebook actually beginning to take away the dominance that Google has had on the search market for so long?” WebiMax founder and CEO Ken Wisnefski, thinks this scenario is likely.
“As more and more people utilize mobile technology to do internet searches, Facebook is the platform that has the highest ability to deliver for advertisers because they have such a control over the mobile space,” said Mr. Wisnefski. “More and more ad budgets continue to go towards Facebook advertising and more and more advertisers are shifting investment that was previously in Google over to Facebook and it’s furthering their growth. Facebook has done a phenomenal job of finding more ways to monetize and ultimately develop their platform."
