Dallas, TX (PRWEB) July 28, 2014

VAZATA, a data center services company that delivers hosted solutions for customers’ mission critical applications, has announced that it entered the Documentation Phase of the FedRAMP certification process. The Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) is a government-wide program that provides a standardized approach to security assessment, authorization, and continuous monitoring for cloud products and services, allowing the U.S. Federal government to realize the benefits of cloud computing faster through a single certification process.

Matt Goodrich, FedRAMP Program Manager, said, "VAZATA has begun work with the FedRAMP PMO (Program Management Office) and we look forward to continued progress towards achieving a JAB (Joint Authorization Board) provisional authorization." The JAB performs risk authorizations and grants the Provisional Authority to Operate (P-ATO). The JAB's members are the CIOs from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the General Services Administration (GSA), and the Department of Defense along with their technical representatives.

Cloud Service Providers (CSPs) interested in serving federal organizations must meet rigorous government mandated security requirements. To ensure CSPs meet these standards, they must be audited by a Third Party Assessment Organization (3PAO) before they can receive a P-ATO. As an accredited 3PAO organization, Kratos SecureInfo is assisting VAZATA with the FedRAMP certification process.

“FedRAMP is one of the most in-depth compliance exercises an organization can attempt," said Mike Rohde, Senior Director, Civilian and Commercial Programs of the Kratos SecureInfo business group. “VAZATA is extremely well-prepared at this stage of the FedRAMP process. As their 3PAO, we will be performing the independent assessment to determine if they meet all the necessary controls, processes, procedures and security requirements.

VAZATA serves Federal Government agencies as well as traditional Enterprise customers, providing highly secure and compliant IaaS solutions. “FedRAMP certification is an important differentiator in serving our market segments due to the ever-increasing regulatory requirements they face,” said John Greenwood, EVP of Sales & Marketing at VAZATA.

Prior to the FedRAMP initiative, VAZATA was one of the first cloud service providers to receive an Authorization to Operate (ATO) from the General Services Administration under the Cloud First initiative.
