Seeing a specialist (oncologist) as soon as possible to verify the diagnosis and come up with a plan of attack as quickly as possible, 3. Getting Organized - make sure you have all of your appointments, doctor's phone numbers and contact information, and other information organized in one central location, 4. Doing research on your own to become as familiar with your diagnosis as possible, 5. Insurance - familiarize yourself with your insurance policy so you know what's covered and what's not, as well as where you can be treated, and lastly 6. Always make sure to receive a second opinion; the more information and confirmation you have at your disposal will go a long way is this battle.
