I have taken the lessons I have learned from many years of starting and running small businesses and paired it with some of the brightest business minds available to create this program. The goal is business success.

Mueller College has been a staple of the San Diego career training landscape for nearly 40 years. Responding to the growing needs of the San Diego community, it has turned its attention to supporting existing and new small business owners with a degree in Small Business Operations.
Students will receive both classroom and hands-on training for the Associate of Occupational Studies in Small Business Operations degree, which includes an intensive 3-month externship at a San Diego-area small business.
The Small Business Administration reports that one of the top reasons a small business fails is a lack of experience. Mueller College President and CEO, Dr. Jeff Welsh, is pleased with the amount of hands-on, relevant experience students will receive: “This program was conceived as a result of feedback from our graduates and informed from my own experience in business over the years. Graduates consistently report that Mueller College prepares them well in their technical fields, but the nuts and bolts of actually starting and running a successful business is beyond the scope of their primary training. I have taken the lessons I have learned from many years of starting and running small businesses and paired it with some of the brightest business minds available to create this program. The goal is business success.”
Local small business professionals from the Corlea Group, gap intelligence, and others have enthusiastically welcomed the program. The AOS Degree in Small Business Operations makes a lot of sense for San Diego, a business community that is largely comprised of small businesses.
