La Peer Welcomes Two New Gastroenterologists

The new doctors joining the La Peer Health Systems’ team are Dr. Benjamin Basseri and Dr. Marc D. Makhani, both gastroenterologists.
About Dr. Basseri
Benjamin Basseri, MD, is a board-certified gastroenterologist. He attended the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, followed by a fellowship in Gastroenterology at UCLA Medical Center and a residency in internal medicine at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

Dr. Basseri specializes in the evaluation and management of difficulty swallowing (dysphagia), indigestion (dyspepsia), abdominal pain, irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease, and colorectal cancer screening. He is also a member of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the American Gastroenterological Association, and the American College of Gastroenterology.
About Dr. Makhani
Marc Makhani, MD, is a board-certified physician and Los Angeles native who obtained his bachelor’s degree from UCLA. He earned his medical degree at the University of Vermont College of Medicine and subsequently completed a residency at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

After completing his residency, Dr. Makhani pursued his fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia before returning to Los Angeles to start his practice. He continues to maintain an active role in the leading national GI medical societies, including the American College of Gastroenterology and American Gastroenterological Association. His clinical and research interests include inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome, GERD, peptic ulcer disease, colon cancer screening, and motility disorders of the gastrointestinal tract.
